What is an Inquiry-based program?

The power of an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning is its potential to increase intellectual engagement and foster deep understanding through the development of a hands-on, minds-on and ‘research-based disposition’ towards teaching and learning. Inquiry honours the complex, interconnected nature of knowledge construction, striving to provide opportunities for both teachers and students to collaboratively build, test and reflect on their learning.

What  is our student:teacher ratio?

IMD is committed to maintaining a low student to teacher ratio to ensure a customized and personal enviroment for each of our children.

Usually 2:1 for children under 2 years old and 4:1 for children over 2 years.

Why do you have mixed ages?

We believe that, like adults, children benefit educationally and socially from being part of diverse communities with a range of ages and abilities. Grouping children of various ages together gives each child exposure to peers who are similar and different. Children learn from one another as they stretch to attain higher levels of understanding and as they serve as experts to those less far along. Each student has a personalized education plan and we have a low classroom student to teacher ratio, thus we can effectively serve children at multiple grade levels in the same homeroom environment.
